“Bartın from Image to Kitchen: Memory, Space, and Table” Event Held

Organized in collaboration with the Bartın Governorship, Bartın University, the Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism and Bartın and Neighborhoods History & Culture Research & Application Center (BAYTAM) as part of Turkish Cuisine Week, the “Bartın from Image to Kitchen: Memory, Space, and Table” event was held with great attendance on May 21, 2026, at the FEAS/Faculty of Education Conference Hall. The program, which started with opening speeches and a musical performance titled "Melodies of the Kitchen," continued with a panel session featuring experts in their fields. The panel included a wide range of presentations, from Anatolian and Ottoman culinary cultures to culinary imagery in Turkish painting and Bartın's local delicacies. We would like to extend our special thanks to BAYTAM Director and our department faculty member Prof. Dr. Melek SARI GÜVEN for her great efforts in organizing this meaningful event, which concluded with a certificate presentation, and to our department student, Retired Teacher Serap EROL, for her contribution to the event with her valuable presentation titled “Bartın Dishes from My Grandmother's Kitchen.”
