The Department of History and the History Club at Bartın University Faculty of Literature will host a conference focusing on the Abbasid period, regarded as one of the most brilliant eras of Islamic history.

In the conference titled “The Renaissance of Islam: The Abbasid Era,” Prof. Mustafa Hizmetli will discuss a period considered the peak of Islamic science, culture, and art. The talk will examine translation movements and scientific advances centered in Baghdad and Samarra, covering fields such as philosophy, astronomy, medicine, and architecture. The contributions of the Abbasid Caliphate to global intellectual history will also be addressed.

The event, open to History Department students and all interested participants, will be held in person at the Mehmet Akif Ersoy Classroom Building.
